Hello, students, hello! A large group of teachers had a convention earlier and established some new policies for the way our academy is going to run. Some also need reminding. Please read everything carefully.
Best 2 Grades Policy
When you're taking a class, there are three assignments given to you. Your best two grades will be taken from all assignments you turn in for that class and will become your final grade. If you like your fist two grades, you can skip your third assignment.
For example, if you score a 1 and a 5 on your first two, and you decide to take a 0 on your third by skipping it, you'll still pass because you scored 6 points, meaning your average is 3 (the minimum to pass a class). If you score two 5's in the first two months, you can skip your third assignment because you already earned a 5 in the class!
This is effective now, which means if you already like your first two grades, you can safely ignore your third assignment and get a free month off!
How to Pass a Class
To pass a class, you must earn at least six points. The grades you get count as points. As long as two of your grades equal six points, you will pass that class. A 3 and a 3 is passing. A 4 and a 2 is passing. A 5 and a 1 is passing.
Advancing to the Next Level
If you're a beginner, your next level is Intermediate.
If you're an intermediate, your next level is Advanced.
You must pass TWO classes to move onto the next level. Be advised that if a next level class needs prerequisites you cannot take that class regardless of level unless you take the prerequisites.
Assignments for the third month of a quarter are now due a week earlier - however, if you turned in your previous two assignments, that probably means you have the month free. Because assignments are due on December 23 of this month, this gives the teachers a chance to evaluate each student and either advance them to the next level or hold them back depending on grades and classes passed. No more chaotic mess!
For those of you who are currently Intermediates, the teachers may
be choosing a student in their department who advances to Advanced level to be a student teacher
(moderator). Student teachers can teach a beginner class for the main department teacher, by instruction of the main professor. That means you get to come up with assignments and grade the assignments of the newbies!
Work hard and be dedicated and your department head might choose you to student teach the newbies, if you so desire to do so.
